The basis for most IEP law is found in three federal statutes, The Individual with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Family Educational and Privacy Rights Act. IDEA is a federal law binding in all states. In my role of IAC, I am mandated to follow state and federal timelines (see the picture below), as well as to follow the eligibility process with fidelity based on assessment data, to maintain compliance of all IEP timelines and documents. to run meetings, complete all IEP paperwork, and manage all special education protocols (such as child find, manifestation, etc.).
